I signed up for PagerDuty and put it through real-world tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I created a test service and connected it with Healthchecks.io. I designed <a href=\"https:\/\/spike.sh\/escalation-policies-guide\">escalation policies<\/a> and triggered alerts. This let me see how PagerDuty handles alerting and incident response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For on-call management, I built actual <a href=\"https:\/\/spike.sh\/blog\/oncall-schedules-everything-you-need-to-know\/\">on-call schedules<\/a> and set up rotations. It also handles <a href=\"https:\/\/spike.sh\/glossary\/alert-deduplication\/\">alert deduplication<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/spike.sh\/glossary\/alert-grouping\/\">grouping<\/a> to reduce noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-i-liked\">What I liked<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PagerDuty&#8217;s Slack integration is powerful. You can acknowledge, resolve, escalate, and manage incidents without leaving your chat. You can change priority, add responders, create channels, and assign roles without switching tools. The <a href=\"https:\/\/spike.sh\/glossary\/bi-directional-integration\/\">bi-directional<\/a> Jira sync also stands out, letting you link incidents and tickets seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PagerDuty&#8217;s post-incident timelines are extremely detailed.
