Why run incident war rooms in Google Meet?
When an incident needs everyone in one place, a war room gives it a home: one Google Meet link, tied to the incident, that the right people can jump straight into. No hunting for a call, no pasting links into chat — start the war room from the incident and Spike takes care of the meeting.
Connecting is quick and stays out of your calendar. Spike creates a single calendar event purely to generate the Meet link — it never reads or stores your existing events. When you open a war room you can bring in the current responders, the escalation, or the whole team, so coordination happens on a call that already has the right people in it. And if Meet isn’t your bridge, Spike also takes personal room links from Daily.co, Gather.town, or any custom URL.
Set up the Google Meet integration
Connect your Google account under Video Conferencing and Spike generates a Meet link for every war room — it only creates a calendar event to make the link, and never reads your calendar.
Step 1: Open Video Conferencing
In Spike, go to Organization Settings → Video Conferencing.
Step 2: Connect Google
Connect your Google account and grant access to Google Calendar — Spike uses it only to generate a Meet link for each war room.
Step 3: Start a war room
On any incident, choose Start Google Meet from Quick Actions, then invite the responders, the escalation, or the whole team.
That's it — Google Meet alerts now page whoever is on call.
