Create Linear issues from your incidents

Spike connects to Linear so any incident can become a tracked Linear issue — created by hand in one click or automatically with Playbooks — so the follow-up work never falls through the cracks.

What you can do

Everything the Linear integration does

Create issues from any incident

Hit the Linear button on an incident and open an issue with the title, team, priority and assignee you choose.

Automate it with Playbooks

Add a “Create an issue on Linear” step to a Playbook and matching incidents open a Linear issue on their own.

Two-way status sync

Move a Linear issue to In Progress and Spike acknowledges the incident; move it to Done and the incident resolves. Reverting a status doesn’t sync back.

Comments sync both ways

A comment on Linear shows up on the incident as “Linear commented”, and a Spike comment appears in Linear as “Spike commented”.

Link existing issues

Connect one or more existing Linear issues to an incident; resolving the incident marks every linked issue as Done.

Why send incidents to Linear?

Not every incident ends when the fire is out. Root-cause analysis, the real fix, and the follow-up planning all live in your issue tracker — and Spike’s Linear integration makes sure they get there. From any incident you can create a Linear issue in one click, or have Playbooks open one automatically.

Spike sends incident details outbound to Linear; it never reads your Linear data back. Status and comments sync both ways within limits — a Linear comment shows up on the incident and vice versa, and moving an issue to Done can resolve the incident. (Once an incident is resolved in Spike it stays resolved, even if the Linear issue reopens.) You can also link an existing Linear issue to an incident to keep the two connected.

Set up the Linear integration

Connect Linear once, then turn any incident into a Linear issue — by hand in a click or automatically with Playbooks. No webhook, no code.

  1. Step 1: Connect Linear

In Spike, go to Settings → Organisation and find Task management integrations. Click Connect next to Linear and complete the authentication.

  2. Step 2: Create an issue from an incident

Open any incident, find the Linear button, and follow the prompts to create an issue — title, team, priority and assignee are yours to set.

  3. Step 3: Automate with Playbooks

Add a “Create an issue on Linear” step to a Playbook so matching incidents open a Linear issue automatically, with no clicks required.

That's it — Linear alerts now page whoever is on call.
