What is Uptime Robot?
Uptime Robot is a lightweight uptime and availability monitor. It checks your websites, APIs, ports, and servers at short intervals from outside your network, watches response times, and tracks SSL certificate expiry — so you hear about a down page or an expiring certificate before your customers do. It is the kind of simple, always-on watchdog that small teams and large ones alike keep pointed at their public endpoints.
An Uptime Robot alert on its own lands as an email or a push notification, which is easy to sleep through. Connected to Spike.sh, a down check becomes an incident: the on-call engineer gets a phone call and SMS within seconds, the alert escalates to the next person if it goes unacknowledged, and duplicate alerts from the same monitor are grouped so a flapping endpoint doesn’t spam the rotation. Because Spike.sh reads Uptime Robot’s recovery events, the incident auto-resolves the moment the monitor reports the site is back up.
How to set up Uptime Robot alerts
Every Spike.sh integration is a unique webhook URL. Paste it into Uptime Robot and alerts start flowing — no agents, no code.
Step 1: Create an Uptime Robot integration in Spike.sh
In your Spike.sh dashboard, open Integrations and add Uptime Robot. Spike.sh generates a unique webhook URL for this integration — copy it.
Step 2: Add a webhook alert contact in Uptime Robot
In Uptime Robot, open Settings → Add Alert Contact and choose Webhook from the type menu. Paste the Spike.sh webhook URL into the "URL to Notify" field.
Step 3: Set the POST value
Paste the JSON payload from the Spike.sh integration page into the POST Value field — it carries the monitor ID, URL, friendly name, alert type, and SSL expiry — then save the alert contact.
Step 4: Attach the contact to your monitors and test
Edit each monitor you want to watch, select the Spike.sh alert contact by name, and save. Pause and resume a monitor to confirm the incident appears in Spike.sh, and note it auto-resolves when the monitor comes back up.
